HC Deb 21 July 1953 vol 46 c202W
Mr. Batiste

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he has any plans, in relation to the hallmarking of precious metals, to reduce the exemption level for small silver articles to five grammes; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

The British Hallmarking Council has proposed such a reduction and I am awaiting its assessment of its practical implications for the assay offices.
