HC Deb 20 January 1953 vol 510 cc8-9W
73. Mr. Burden

asked the Minister of Works if he will consult the President of the Board of Trade with a view to providing a reasonable number of tickets for overseas buyers wishing to see the Coronation procession.

Mr. Eccles

No. The Coronation may help trade, but it would be out of keeping with the dignity of the occasion to use it deliberately for this purpose. All visitors from abroad will be welcome and in the case of Commonwealth visitors they may apply for seats from the High Commissioners in London or to the Colonial Governments. No separate allocation will be made to overseas buyers from any country.
