HC Deb 23 February 1953 vol 511 c197W
Mr. Bossom

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps are being taken to prevent a repetition this year of the losses on the London section of the British Industries Fair.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

I can assure my hon. Friend that all practical steps are being taken to put the income and expenditure of the British Industries Fair on a more favourable basis. I need hardly point out, however, that the losses to which my hon. Friend refers should not be regarded as reflecting any failure on the part of the Fair to fulfil the valuable purposes it serves in the promotion of United Kingdom trade, particularly overseas.
