asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is yet in a position to make a statement that agreement has been reached regarding the implementation of Part II of the Oaksey Committee Report dealing with negotiating machinery on pay and conditions in the police force.

I am not yet in a position to make a statement. I have, however, had further discussions with representatives of English and Welsh local authorities, and the matter is to be considered again at an early meeting of the Police Council.
