HC Deb 11 February 1953 vol 511 c39W
84. Mr. Hamilton

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what reductions in defence orders have been effected in Scotland in the past two months; and in which areas these reductions have been made.

Mr. J. P. L. Thomas

The reduction of Admiralty orders in Scotland in the two months ended 15th January was very small and was much more than offset by the new orders placed during the same period. Admiralty orders are spread widely through the Scottish shipbuilding and engineering industries and neither new orders nor reductions have been confined to one area.
