HC Deb 09 February 1953 vol 511 c1W
18. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power the reasons for the disappointing demand for nutty slack; and what steps he proposes to take to increase it.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

The coal merchants' resources of transport and manpower have been hard pressed in delivering supplies of ordinary house coal and they have therefore not been able to increase the sales of nutty slack. The Chamber of Coal Traders have now sent a circular to all merchants stressing the need for increased sales of nutty slack. I hope that householders will order it in increasing quantities to eke out their supplies of ordinary house coal.

21. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what complaints he has received about the quality and price of nutty slack within the past six weeks.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

Twelve.
