Glynasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will arrange for an inquiry into the operations of the Racecourse Betting Control Board in order that the original object of legalising the use of totalisators on racecourses may be carried out to the benefit of the British bloodstock industry.

Maxwell FyfeThe position of the Racecourse Betting Control Board was considered in paragraphs 334–339 of the Report of the Royal Commission on Betting, Lotteries and Gaming which was published in March, 1951, and the Commission heard evidence from a number of witnesses about the Board's operations. I do not think that the appointment of a further committee of inquiry is necessary.
