HC Deb 05 February 1953 vol 510 c226W
70. Mr. P. Wells

asked the Minister of Agriculture for what reason 95 acres of full bearing and high grade cherry orchard owned by his Department, is being grubbed up at Brogdale Farm, Faversham.

Mr. Nugent

The farm has been acquired by the Ministry as the National Fruit Variety Testing Station. The cherry trees which were neither full bearing nor high grade had to be removed in order to free land for planting the numerous varieties of fruit under trial.
