HC Deb 05 February 1953 vol 510 c226W
68. Mr. Odey

asked the Minister of Agriculture what steps he proposes to take to ensure that the northern bank of the River Ouse, at Selby, is repaired to avoid any repetition of the serious flooding of the area in 1947.

Mr. Nugent

I understand that the bank in question did in fact withstand the high tide of 31st January. The question of further repairs to it is not directly related to the national emergency of the floods in the Eastern Counties. My right hon. Friend is in touch with the Yorkshire Ouse River Board who are keeping the bank under close observation.
