HC Deb 04 February 1953 vol 510 cc210-1W
Major Beamish

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what recent information he has received concerning versions of Soviet-manufactured MiG-15 aeroplanes in use by the North Koreans and Chinese Communist forces fighting in Korea; how far the overall diameter of the engines, based on the British design, remains unchanged; and whether the materials used are still similar to those used in the Rolls-Royce jet engines sold to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in 1947.

Mr. Ward

It would not be in the public interest to disclose the extent of the information obtained about the MiG-15. I can, however, say that the overall diameter of the engines which, as has previously been stated, are based on British design, is substantially unchanged and that the materials are similar to those used in British engines of comparable design.
