§ Mr. Russellasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress has been made in education in the West African Colonies, Protectorates and Trusteeship Territories in recent years.
§ Mr. LytteltonPrimary education has become freely available in the Gold Coast. In many parts of Nigeria the number of primary school places has greatly increased. University colleges and colleges of arts, science and technology have been established in the Gold Coast and Nigeria, and the scope of the old118W established Fourah Bay College has been broadened. These developments have been matched in the fields of secondary and technical education.

Member to" African Education," a study of educational policy and practice in British Tropical Africa, sponsored by the Nuffield Foundation and the Colonial Office and to the Annual Reports of the Education Departments of the four Territories.
