HC Deb 17 December 1953 vol 522 c113W
121. Mr. H. Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will make a statement giving the circumstances in which 22796755 Driver Marshall Roy Fowler, Royal Signals, died following a gunshot wound in the head at the British Military Hospital at Fayid on 4th December, 1953.

Mr. J. R. H. Hutchison

Yes. The court of inquiry proceedings have not yet been received, but I can give some further information. This soldier is reported to have been accidentally shot in the head by a revolver bullet fired by another soldier and, I much regret to say, he died in hospital some four hours later. A summary of evidence is now being taken and disciplinary action may follow.
