asked the Minister of Labour how many prosecutions were brought for offences committed under the Factories Acts in 1950; how many of these prosecutions were brought after an accident had taken place; and how many where there had been no accident.

Seven hundred and ninety-seven prosecutions were brought for offences committed under the Factories Acts in 1950. Of the 574 prosecutions which were in respect of contraventions of safety requirements, 359 were brought after an accident had taken place and 215 where there had been no accident.
