HC Deb 03 December 1953 vol 521 cc155-6W
66. Mr. Gibson

asked the Minister of Labour if he will give the latest figures of short-time working and redundancy in trades, other than the metal and allied trades.

NUMBERS OF UNEMPLOYED PERSONS (18 YEARS AND OVER) ON THE REGISTER OF THE CORBY EMPLOYMENT EXCHANGE
Wholly unemployed Temporarily stopped Total
12th November, 1951 29 4 33
12th May, 1952 48 48
10th November, 1952 43 43
11th May, 1953 40 78 118
16th November, 1953 39 83 122

The figures for May and November include about 70 men attached to the iron and steel tube industry. The remainder of these figures and all the others represent very small numbers of men and women from a number of industries.

Sir W. Monckton

The Ministry of Labour Gazette for October contains the latest available figures relating to short-time working and that for November the latest figures for unemployment by industries.

If the hon. Member requires any additional information perhaps he will let me know.
