HC Deb 03 December 1953 vol 521 c155W
65. Mr. Gibson

asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that, during November, 120 workpeople have received notice terminating their employment at the Standard Telephone Company, Southgate; that the working week may shortly be reduced; and what steps he is taking to find alternative employment for those affected.

Sir W. Monckton

Twelve men and 112 women were discharged in November and of these 34 women are now registered at nearby employment exchanges as unemployed. They are seeking part-time work and the employment exchange service is making every effort to help them.
