§ 55. Mr. T. Reid
asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what reply he has given to the Gold Coast Government's request that Her Majesty's Government should declare its intention to introduce an Act of Independence for the Gold Coast as soon as necessary arrangements for implementation can be made; and what consultations he had with the Dominions before his reply was given.
§ Mr. Lyttelton
None. The question of such a declaration is one for the United Kingdom Government alone, and it will be considered when the current constitutional proposals have been fully worked out and a settlement reached on them.
