HC Deb 23 April 1953 vol 514 c74W
63. Mr. Willey

asked the Minister of Health what further research he is undertaking consequent upon the report of his chief medical officer that suspicion continues to be thrown on tobacco, especially heavy cigarette smoking, for the disturbing increase in male mortality from cancer.

Miss Hornsby-Smith

This matter has been referred to my right hon. Friend's Standing Advisory Committee on Cancer and Radiotherapy, and he is awaiting their advice. Meanwhile, the existing research will be continued.
