HL Deb 01 May 1952 vol 176 c596WA
LORD BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government whether they would state the total of dollar exchange granted to United Kingdom firms or individuals for industrial investment and development in the United States of America since January 1st, 1947.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE DUCHY OF LANCASTER (VISCOUNT SWINTON)

The total amount authorised for all forms of capital investment in the United States of America from 1st January, 1947, to 31st December, 1951, is estimated at about £30,000,000. This figure does not include profits retained with permission in their businesses by United Kingdom-owned subsidiaries already operating in the United States, for which figures are not available.
