HC Deb 04 March 1952 vol 497 c42W
103. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will now increase the Government grant for aid to Orkney owing to the recent gale; and whether, in addition, he will consider the provision of interest-free loans.

Mr. J. Stuart

On present information I have no reason to believe that further financial assistance from the Exchequer is necessary. The main need is materials to repair damage and the Departments will continue to facilitate their delivery through the normal channels.
