HC Deb 21 February 1952 vol 496 c54W
91. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Education how far her proposed economies will mean a cut in the road safety patrols for schoolchildren in Kent; and what will be the annual saving.

Miss Horsbrugh

I understand that at their meeting yesterday the Kent County Council considered a recommendation that school crossing patrols employed by the education authority should be abolished, with an estimated saving of £4,150 in a full year, and decided to post-pone action on the recommendation in the hope that arrangements would soon be made for the Police to take over responsibility for patrols.
