HC Deb 04 February 1952 vol 495 c69W
58. Mr. Wood

asked the Minister of Food whether he will distribute a greater proportion of the available supplies of sugar in an increased domestic ration and less for manufactured jams and confectionery.

Major Lloyd George

In order to maintain the present 10 oz. domestic ration I have already had to cut supplies to manufacturers. These cuts have not yet been fully reflected in retail supplies. I am not satisfied that any further redistribution of current sugar supplies would be to the ultimate benefit of the consumer.
