HC Deb 19 November 1951 vol 494 c1W
12. Mr. West

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware of the hardship caused to residents in the Pentwyn area due to the absence of rail or road passenger transport facilities; and if he will consider improving the bridge over the road from the Big Arch, Abersychan, to Pentwyn, so that a road service may be operated.

Mr. Maclay

The improvement of the bridge would be primarily a matter for the Railway Executive and the local highway authority. No application has been made to me for authority to undertake any improvement works to this bridge and it is unlikely in present economic circumstances that I could give this authority. I understand that, apart from the bridge, road improvements would be necessary before a bus service could be safely operated.
