§ 3. Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Minister of Transport whether he will consult with the Secretary of State for the Home Department with a view to providing mounted patrols for assisting the public when the traffic is heavy at the newly-marked pedestrian crossings.
§ Mr. MaclayI have consulted my right hon. and learned Friend, who does not consider that it would be appropriate to use mounted patrols on traffic control work at pedestrian crossings. Chief officers of police have however been asked to make every effort to encourage the public to make full and proper use of the pew striped crossings.
