Mr. Carr

asked the Postmaster-General what was the number of applicants waiting for telephones in the borough of Wallington on 1st January, 1950, and 1951; how many installations were made during 1950; and what is the longest period for which anyone has been waiting.

1,135 on 1st January, 1950, and 796 on 1st January, 1951. Seven hundred and fifty new subscribers were connected during 1950. The earliest outstanding application was made in 1944.
