asked the Minister of Food why the maximum prices of some of the cheaper kinds of sugar confectionery are to be raised by 2d. a pound, whilst the maximum prices of some of the dearer kinds are to be reduced by 2d. and 4d. a pound.

Our examination of costs has shown that profit margins were too high on some of the more expensive lines but inadequate on some of the cheaper lines.
