HC Deb 19 March 1951 vol 485 c221W
58. Professor Savory

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been called to the smashing of the show window of the British European Airways Corporation offices at Madrid, and the theft of the display advertising the air service to Gibraltar; and whether he has asked the British Ambassador to make a protest and ask for compensation for the damage done.

Mr. Younger

Yes. The incident occurred on 4th March. His Majesty's Ambassador has protested to the Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, but in view of the report of the local manager of British European Airways that the cost of the damage was insignificant, it is not proposed to ask for compensation.
