HC Deb 13 March 1951 vol 485 cc149-50W
130. Mrs. Braddock

asked the Minister of Labour whether his attention has been drawn to the protest by the National Dairymen's Association, with reference to the unintelligible wording of the Milk Distributive Wages Council Proposal MD 61; and what action he proposes to take.

Mr. Lee

I understand that this Question refers to written representations which have been made to the Milk Distributive Wages Council (England and Wales). Under the Wages Councils Act, 1945, and the Regulations, the Wages Council is required to publish full details of its proposals to employers in the trade and written representations with respect to the proposals can be sent to the Wages Council which the Wages Council is required to consider. The proposals in question deal with holidays and holiday remuneration and the Wages Council and the Department constantly endeavour to make these documents as simple as possible having regard to the complexity of the subject.
