HC Deb 08 March 1951 vol 485 c71W
44. Mrs. Braddock

asked the Minister of Health if, in view of the number of mental defectives awaiting institutional accommodation in the Liverpool area, he will take all possible steps to see that there is no extension of the Imperial Chemical Industries' explosive dump in the vicinity of the Newchurch Hospital, as it is the only place where any additional accommodation can be provided in reasonable time for those urgent cases.

Mr. Marquand

I am aware of the need for additional accommodation for mental defectives in the Liverpool area and am in touch with the other Departments concerned to see how far it may be possible to adjust the conflicting requirements in connection with the New-church site.
