§ 27. Mr. Parkerasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will consider with the Government of British Guiana the setting up of a land valuation committee and, pending the report of such a committee, to suspend contracts for the acquiring of land at Campbellville, La Penitence and Bel Air Park owing to the exorbitant prices asked.
§ Mr. J. GriffithsThe terms for the acquisition of the lands in question were approved by the Legislative Council of British Guiana after full discussion. The general consensus of opinion was that the prices were fair and reasonable, and I see no reason to intervene. I understand that a member of the Legislative Council has put down a motion proposing the setting up of a land valuation committee.
