HC Deb 04 June 1951 vol 488 cc67-8W
74. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Minister of Food why arrangements have recently been made to place on the market a quantity of sealed eggs; and what is the object of taking this action at a time when the supply of fresh eggs is at its peak.

Mr. Webb

The object is to give housewives an opportunity to buy extra eggs now, when the meat ration is low, rather than later on when there is likely to be more meat.

92. Mr. Carson

asked the Minister of Food whether he will make a statement on the likelihood of the de-rationing of chicken's eggs for any period of this year.

Mr. Webb

I hope to make a statement about this next week.
