HC Deb 04 June 1951 vol 488 c68W
76. Mr. Russell

asked the Minister of Food what quantity of cheese has been bought by his Department from the United States of America during 1951, and what was its cost in dollars; and what quantity has been obtained from Canada during the same period.

Mr. Webb

During 1951 my Department has bought from the United States of America 11.2 million lb. of cheese at a cost of 3.2 million dollars. I have agreed to purchase 20 million lb. of Canadian cheese from this year's production, but none has yet been received. Negotiations for further purchases from Canada are now going on.
