HC Deb 04 July 1951 vol 489 c215W
15. Viscount Hinchingbrooke

asked the Postmaster-General what is the average time taken for letters from this country to reach British troops in Austria and vice versa.

Mr. Ness Edwards

Transit time by air in both directions is one day, and by surface from Austria two and a half days. Tests of overall transmission times are being made and I will write further to the noble Lord as soon as they are complete.
