HC Deb 04 December 1951 vol 494 cc250-1W
Lieut.-Colonel Lockwood

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the large numbers of monkeys now being imported by air, he will make the necessary Regulations to prevent suffering through overcrowding.

Sir T. Dugdale

The Protection of Animals Act, 1911, makes it an offence to convey or carry any animal in such man- ner as to cause that animal any unnecessary suffering. There would appear to be no need for me to make a Regulation to cover the particular case where suffering is due to overcrowding.
