HC Deb 02 August 1951 vol 491 c272W
Sir J. Lucas

asked the Postmaster-General why postal and telegraph officers have to obtain 25 more marks in examinations for admission to the clerical class of the Civil Service than postmen or telephone technical officers; and what steps he will take to remove this anomaly.

Mr. Hobson

A quantitative restriction has been formally agreed with the Staff Associations concerned because of the heavy drain of experienced postal and telegraph officers to the clerical class.
