HC Deb 02 August 1951 vol 491 c272W
Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Postmaster-General what effect Post Office publicity has had in reducing the number of letters for foreign destinations, bearing less than the 4d. in stamps.

Mr. Hobson

Since January the number of such letters dealt with in London has been reduced by about half to the current number of some 30,000 items weekly. Publicity is continuing with a view to improving the position still further.
