§ Mr. GaitskellYes. The Treasury have authorised an increase in the amount of the fiduciary note issue by £25 million to £1,425 million as from 31st July, 1951, for a period of not more than one month in order to meet the temporary increase in the demand for notes at the peak of the holiday season. The Treasury Minute will be laid before Parliament.
