HC Deb 23 November 1949 vol 470 c32W
Mr. Walkden

asked the Minister of Food whether his regulations allow any of the sweets, at present being imported from European countries, being offered for sale either by wholesale or retail; if he is aware that certain types of sweets from Holland are being offered for sale as free from points; and what action he proposes taking to stop this practice.

Mr. Strachey:

Imported sweets may be offered for sale provided that they comply with the price and rationing regulations prescribed in the Chocolate, Sugar Confectionery and Cocoa Products Order, 1949, and the Rationing (Personal Points) Order, 1949. I have not heard that any sweets from Holland are being offered for sale free of points, but if the hon. Member will let me have details I shall be glad to make inquiries.
