asked the Minister of Food in view of the increasing shortage of coffee, what steps he will take to prevent an increase of price.

Mr. Strachey:

Coffee prices are controlled by Statutory Instrument and coffee essence prices are controlled by an understanding with the principal manufacturers. I have no reason to fear that either of these measures will prove ineffective.
