HC Deb 20 September 1948 vol 456 c19W
85. Mr. Collins

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that bakers in rural areas are unable, on their present flour allocations, to supply the demand for bread; and if he will vary existing arrangements in order to avoid a bread shortage.

Mr. Strachey

I have received reports from some areas of difficulties which have arisen in operating the flour allocation scheme which was introduced in July. These are being examined carefully but it is too soon yet to say whether any further changes will be necessary.
