§ 82. Mr. W. Fletcherasked the Minister of Food what is the estimated increased cost to the country arising from the changes in price level of the new copra agreement announced on 13th August compared with those contained in the previous agreement.
§ Mr. StracheyDuring the second half of 1948 the increased cost of Ceylon copra will represent approximately £4 per ton of oil and during 1949 a further £8. The increased cost in 1950 cannot yet be determined. So far we have purchased 14,000 tons of oil since 1st July this year and we hope to purchase not less than 40,000 tons per annum in 1949 and 1950.
