HC Deb 02 November 1948 vol 457 cc45-6W
92. Mr. Platts-Mills

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the policy of His Majesty's Government regarding the export of goods to countries in Eastern Europe.

Mr. Bottomley

It is the policy of His Majesty's Government to encourage the flow of trade in both directions between the United Kingdom and all countries, including those of Eastern Europe, at the highest possible level. The extent to which it may be in the United Kingdom interest to export to any particular country depends on the importance of that country as a source of supply and whether our trading and financial relationships with it are developing satisfactorily.
