§ 50. Mr. Cooperasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, before any general increases in pay to any grades in the Civil Service are considered, he will initiate an independent public inquiry to review the whole situation in order to associate any 69W proposed increase in pay with increases in efficiency, hours of work and reduction in numbers of the Civil Service as a whole.
§ Mr. Glenvil HallNo. My right hon. and learned Friend does not consider that an independent public inquiry into these matters is called for. At the present time, of course, pay claims have to be considered in relation to the White Paper on Personal Incomes.
