§ Mr. Piratinasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether increased wages are being paid to the workers arising from the higher prices paid for West African cocoa.
§ Mr. Rees-WilliamsThe increased price goes to the Gold Coast and Nigerian Cocoa Marketing Boards on which the farmers are represented. The Boards will use the money for the benefit of the industry and those engaged in it. Most of the labour is employed on a profit-sharing basis and thus enjoys with the farmer the advantage of the higher price.
