§ Mr. A. Edward Daviesasked the Minister of Food whether he is aware of 242W the high prices which are being charged for soap substitutes; and whether he will take steps to control them.
§ Mr. StracheyRetail prices of soap substitutes are controlled by my Department under the Soap Substitutes (Labelling and Prices) Order, 1943. Prices are high because raw materials and packing materials are expensive, but if my hon. Friend has in mind a case in which the price charged is considered excessive, I should be glad to have it investigated.
