HC Deb 28 October 1947 vol 443 c41W
Mr. Turton

asked -the Secretary of State for War what quantity of anamunition shelters are at present stored in dumps in England and Wales; and what is the present demand of the W.D. for these ammunition shelters for Army use.

Mr. Shinwell

Approximately 17,000 of these shelters are held by the War Department in dumps in England and Wales. These shelters are required by the Army for storage purposes at home and overseas. Other shelters, as they are emptied of ammunition, are made available to the Ministry of Works for disposal.
