HC Deb 28 October 1947 vol 443 c41W
Mr. Hale

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that large quantities of ammunition are still left unattended at Charnwood Forest; and what steps he is taking to remove these at an early date.

Mr. Shinwell

I regret I cannot hold out any hope that it will be possible for some considerable time to remove completely the ammunition stores in Charnwood Forest. The limited resources of technical manpower available are fully occupied in the removal of ammunition from other areas whose clearance is more urgent.
