HC Deb 24 November 1947 vol 444 c239W
54. Mr. Digby

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he is prepared to set up an elected central committee that would be representative of county garden produce committees and village produce associations, for the purpose of formulating a constitution for the National Organisation.

Mr. T. Williams

No. I have every confidence in the existing County Garden Produce Central Committee, under the chairmanship of Lord Walkden. It advises me on all matters relating to the administration of the county committees and the activities of the village produce associations, and is a carefully chosen body including representation of related interests. The long-term future of this scheme will have to be reviewed in due course, but I do not consider the time is yet opportune.
