§ 102. Mr. Gallacher
asked the Minister of Education if he has considered the circular letter from the National Union of Women Teachers sent to him by the hon. Member for West Fife, calling for equal pay for women teachers in order to retain and attract women teachers for our schools; and what statement he is pre pared to make on this subject.
§ Mr. Tomlinson
I have read the copy of the circular letter from the National Union of Women Teachers sent to me by the hon. Member. No recommendations have yet been made to me by the Burnham Committee and I am not in a position to make a statement on the matter referred to. I would, however, invite the hon. Member's attention to the statement made by my right hon. Friend the late Chancellor of the Exchequer on 11th June last to which I have nothing to add.
