HC Deb 20 November 1947 vol 444 c215W
107. Brigadier Peto

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations if he can now make a statement on the position of British Military and Civil Government cemeteries in India; and what arrangements are being made to care for them.

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

In reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Preston (Dr. Segal) on October 30th, I described the arrangements which are being made for the care and maintenance of British cemeteries in India and Pakistan. These arrangements will apply to civil cemeteries and to military cemeteries other than war cemeteries and war graves which are within the charter of the Imperial War Graves Commission. These war cemeteries and graves will remain the responsibility of the Commission.
