HC Deb 12 November 1947 vol 444 c85W
95. Mr. Turton

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he will now agree to release Spaunton Moor, which is at present used as a training ground and firing range for the R.A.F. Regiment; and from what date will the release operate.

Mr. de Freitas

Unless some unforeseen difficulty arises the R.A.F. Regiment will soon leave Spaunton Moor for Battle Hill, near Barnard Castle, where it will train in future. However, we are faced with the problem of clearing Spaunton Moor of unexploded missiles and I regret I cannot at present say when this area will be ready to be thrown open to the public.
